Alleged Harvey Weinstein victims file racketeering suit against him & The Weinstein Company

Alleged Harvey Weinstein victims file racketeering suit against him & The Weinstein Company

"We knew it. Now the world knows it". The new suit is targeted at both Weinstein himself, his brother and other former Weinstein Company board members accused of complicity in his sexual misconduct, Page Six reports.

The suit comes a day after the New York Times published a 7,800-word exposé detailing how Hillary Clinton, Bob Weinstein, the Walt Disney Company, and elite talent agency CAA were all complicit in facilitating or enabling Harvey Weinstein's sexual abuse over a period of several decades. It claims that his actions to cover up the assaults amounted to civil racketeering.

The lawsuit claims that a coalition of companies and people became part of the growing "Weinstein Sexual Enterprise" and that they worked with Weinstein to hide his widespread sexual harassment and assaults. "It is our fervent hope that these men will choose to go down in history as redemptive characters, not as men who helped cover up rape culture", the plantiffs said in a statement.

On Tuesday night, CBS News received a statement from Weinstein attorneys Blair Berk and Ben Brafman, which says in part, "Weinstein has never at any time committed an act of sexual assault, and it is wrong and irresponsible to conflate claims of impolitic behavior or consensual sexual contact later regretted, with an untrue claim of criminal conduct". Weinstein allegedly lured actresses and other women to industry events, hotel rooms, his home or private auditions often under pretenses of potential roles in films.

Plaintiffs included the scriptwriter and actress Louisette Geiss and the actresses Katherine Kendall, Zoe Brock, Sarah Ann Thomas, Melissa Sagemiller and Nanette Klatt.

"These provisions in an employment contract are unique - and reflect TWC's knowledge that Weinstein was more likely than not to engage in sexual harassment and other misconduct affecting the Class and female employees".

The powerful businessmen who sat on The Weinstein Company board including billionaire Paul Tudor Jones, Hillary Clinton pal Marc Lasry and MSG boss Jim Dolan are being implicated in the movie mogul's sex scandal in a bombshell new court filing.

A spokeswoman for Dolan, who is also the owner of the New York Knicks, said they were still reviewing the complaint and did not have a comment except to state that "Mr. Dolan is confident that he acted appropriately in all matters relating to his time on the Weinstein board".
