Weinstein told Peter Jackson to blacklist actors

Weinstein told Peter Jackson to blacklist actors

Priestley made his remarks after kindred Canadian star Tara Strong referenced the claimed episode while tweeting a message of sensitivity towards Mira Sorvino after she reacted to a report that cited Peter Jackson as saying Weinstein's organization had boycotted her and Ashley Juddfrom working on Lord of the Rings.

Both actresses have claimed the media mogul sexually harassed them.

Film producer Weinstein is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct by Hollywood actresses.

Weinstein said his company was not involved with the casting of the Lord Of The Rings movie. In and interview with Stuff, Jackson publicly apologized to the two actresses and denounced Weinstein.

"I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs. This was probably in 1998", Jackson told writer Dani McDonald.

Judd told Esquire, "Our greatest fear is being thrown out of a tribe, and that's what happens when we're being aggressed upon - we'll get thrown out if we don't comply".

'At the time, we had no reason to question what these guys were telling us - but in hindsight, I realise that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing.

Sorvino said in a tweet: "Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying". She says it is confirmation that Weinstein derailed her career. Fran and I immediately remembered Miramax's negative reaction when we put their names forward, and we wondered if we had unwittingly been part of the alleged damage to their careers, at the hands of Miramax. "I appreciate the truth coming out", she said.

Amongst the many names raised, Fran and I expressed our enthusiasm for Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino.

It added that Sorvino called Weinstein earlier this year to ask if her husband, actor Christopher Backus, could be cast in the TV series "Six" that he was producing "and Mr. Weinstein cast him".

Terry Zwigoff, who made the 2003 film Bad Santa, said overnight that he was potentially looking to cast Sorvino in a key role, but that he was prevented from doing so by the Weinsteins, who were then in charge of production house Miramax.

The "Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy later went to New Line Cinema and released in 2001.

In Peter's original comments, he claimed he was fed "false information" on the two actresses, which he believes was created to deter him from casting them.

The Oscar victor always felt the disgraced movie boss had derailed her career after she spurned his alleged sexual advances - and now it seems her concerns have been validated. He has denied participating in non-consensual sex.
