Palestinian girl filmed trying to provoke soldiers is arrested

Palestinian girl filmed trying to provoke soldiers is arrested

WAFA correspondent said that no reason was given for Nariman's detention.

PNN reporter said that the occupation arrested Tamimi, while she was in front of "Benyamin" Israeli police station north of Ramallah, where she was heading to know the fate of her daughter.

The Israeli army said in a statement the Palestinian girl was arrested for participating in "violent riots" in her village. Bennett noted that under Israeli law, attacking soldiers is punishable by up to seven years in jail.

The Palestinians struggle against the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, territories that Israel seized in the 1967 and has held ever since, despite global protest.

Ahd, 17, was detained at her family home after a video showed her confronting Israeli soldiers outside her home in the Ramallah-area village of Nabi Saleh. As the teens repeatedly made advances on the soldiers, the two service members did not push back.

Many Israelis have long complained that restrictive rules of engagement permit Palestinian Arabs to molest IDF soldiers with impunity. "Palestinian women caught hitting, pushing and cursing Israeli soldiers in order to provoke them to respond on camera". The goal of these provocateurs, of course, is to elicit a violent response from the soldiers, which can then be used to further smear the Jewish state on the worldwide stage.

According to locals, Ahed was arrested over a video went viral on social media of her slapping an armed Israeli officer during a raid on Nabi Saleh.

The Tamimi family, dubbed a "propaganda machine" by The Tower, was responsible for a 2015 incident involving then-12-year-old Muhammad Tamimi, who was restrained after throwing rocks at Israelis during a violent protest.

At the time, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan (now president) and his wife had met the Palestinian girl to convey their admiration for her bravery.
