Civilization VI is now available for iPad

However, with the release of a full game for the iPad, it looks like the franchise is eyeing the mobile industry as its target market. Bigger games can tend to wear a device's battery down quickly, and although iOS device specs are impressive it's not always possible to dedicate all that beef towards running a single game. Civilization VI of course is a turn-base strategy game in which players compete alongside AI opponents to grow a civilization from tribe to world domination.

Unfortunately, Civ VI will not work on just any iPad.

For those who would like to take the king of 4X strategy on the go, Aspyr Media has announced that as of today Civilization VI will be available for iPad from the Apple App Store.

We tried the game out and found that it is indeed the full Civilization VI experience, as promised. It contains the same elements, the UI is changed a bit to be more easily viewed on the iPad. You can also construct portals, propulsion gel, repulsion gel, aerial faith plates, cubes, and more to bypass the sentry turrets, acid pools and laser barriers, solve switch puzzles. The arrow keys moved around the map.

But the game does come with local multiplayer support, which is sure to delight iPad users that would rather bring their tablet for an all-night gaming session than their PC.

Watch below the Civilization VI iPad trailer. Punch, block, and dodge your way up the ranks with simple one-hand touch controls and fast action gameplay. There's good news and bad news here.

Before buying it, if you want to make sure that this is a purchase you really want to do, you can install it for free and get 60 turns for free. If you disagree with what we've chosen, let's try to use the comments of these articles to have conversations about what game is your game of the week and why. That is a limited discount on what will be its usual $60 price. Battle the evil Dr. Eggman across 4 iconic locations and unlock new characters and abilities as you dash your way through obstacles and battle villains. There is no additional content or expansion packs. As for the new iPad port, that comes from Aspyr as well.
