Survivor's Todd Herzog Says Dr. Phil Got Him Drunk Before His Interview

Survivor's Todd Herzog Says Dr. Phil Got Him Drunk Before His Interview

And that's exactly what a new report conducted by STAT and the Boston Globe is accusing the Dr. Phil show of doing-providing guests on their show that are seeking treatment for addiction with booze and drugs in an effort to boost ratings.

Former Survivor victor Todd Herzog, who battles with alchohol addictions, first appeared on the "Dr. Phil" show in 2013.

Herzog, the Sole Survivor from 2007's Survivor: China, is the centerpiece of a bombshell investigation by STAT News in collaboration with the Boston Globe.

Herzog's account notes how he was initially flown to Los Angeles to appear on a segment on The Dr. Phil Show, where he recounts that he was checked into a hotel for a two day detox.

He also says someone on the show gave him a Xanax to "calm his nerves" - which he'd never taken before - and he was a complete mess when he appeared on the show because of it.

Other former guests have accused the popular TV doctor and his staff of putting them at risk and leaving them without medical attention.

The show denied that bottles of vodka had been left in his dressing room. To ease the withdrawal symptoms, King-Parrish thought her daughter needed drugs - so a show staff member joined them on a hunt for heroin, and video from that hunt later appeared on the show. "Another guest, who was pregnant, was filmed by a show staffer while searching for a dealer on Skid Row in L.A.", the report said.

"What would have happened if I had died there?"

STAT reported that a representative for the show declined a request for an interview. While Dr. Phil did offer Todd treatment at a rehabilitation center, it wasn't known until today that the reason he looked in as awful a state as he appeared was that people from the show gave him the tools of intoxication. For getting me help in the nicest places in the country.

"I'm grateful in a lot of ways for the show", Herzog admitted.

Herzog said that when he got up from his chair, he had to be physically removed because he was so intoxicated.

"It's a callous and inexcusable exploitation", Jeff Sugar, who is an assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at the University of Southern California, told STAT and the Globe.

If these allegations are true, then #Phil McGraw could be bombarded by a massive amount of past guests coming forward with the same claims in potentially one of the biggest television scandals of all time.

"Addicts are notorious for lying, deflecting and trivializing", he said. They beg to come on.
