Liverpool Prospect Reveals The Disgusting Racist Abuse He Suffered This Year

Liverpool Prospect Reveals The Disgusting Racist Abuse He Suffered This Year

Liverpool's Rhian Brewster has opened up about the racial abuse he suffered in a youth game with Spartak Moscow in December.

As an English footballer, he's already a striker for Liverpool U19, of the Premier League, and he's got a pair of accolades - the Golden Boot and Bronze Ball - from his role on the 2017 Federation Internationale de Football Association U-17 World Cup champions.

Brewster also claims he was called the same name in a European Under-17 Championship against Ukraine in May and while playing against Sevilla for Liverpool's Under-19s.

"As we enter 2018, no one should have to endure such discrimination and it is incumbent on all of us in the game to listen to young players and provide them with our full support".

"In Rhian's case, we have visited him at his club to discuss his concerns and understand his frustration at the perceived lack of action".

"Our hope is to work closely with UEFA and Federation Internationale de Football Association to learn from these issues and to ensure a better way forward in order to protect young players".

The Liverpool striker - just 17 - recalled at least seven incidents of racist abuse during his career, five of them ion the previous year, including one targeted at Wolves starlet Morgan Gibbs-White in the Under-17 World Cup final. "I want to be by myself and left to think".

'I'm really happy he is courageous enough to do what he did because it's such an important thing, ' said the German.

"To be honest, I don't think there is any point". That is how it feels anyway, like it has been brushed under the carpet.

"It's not a situation you want a 17-year-old boy to be in but, if it's like this and he needs help, we give it to him of course".

'I can't believe people still have these kind of thoughts in their mind.

He stressed that Liverpool had backed him in speaking out, and said of the incident against Spartak that "their player leaned over me, right down to my face and said: 'Suck my d--, you n--, you negro'". UEFA's disciplinary regulations stipulate that any player found guilty of racist abuse should be banned for a minimum of 10 matches.
