Can Mariah Carey Bounce Back from Last New Year's Eve Mishap?

Can Mariah Carey Bounce Back from Last New Year's Eve Mishap?

As to who will perform, it was previously reported that Mariah Carey would headline the event, despite her epic fail performance past year. Carey cut her performance short and had social media in a frenzy. But it also led to a public spat between the best-selling singer and dick clark productions as to who was at fault, with Carey's camp charging sabotage with technical glitches, including faulty ear piece, and dick clark productions denying the claims and charging she hadn't rehearsed enough.

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" celebration starts on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. "He would have been as mortified as I was in real time". And this New Year's Eve, Carey is the headliner and says we can expect something similar to her Las Vegas show - a big production with a full band and backup dancers.

"It's not my idea but it's a good idea", Seacrest said.

"I give her tremendous credit for saying, 'I'm coming back. People love her. She's beloved".

"Well I haven't seen her yet this year, but I've seen the schedule and there is a rehearsal scheduled, and I'm sure she'll be there", host Ryan Seacrest said in an interview with The Associated Press on Friday.

Carey will be joined on the televised show by other musicians, including Britney Spears, Joe Jonas and Imagine Dragons, performing in at various sites across the country. The finishing touches are in place on the New Year's Eve centerpiece, that features more than 2,500 Waterford crystal triangles and weighs almost six tons.

The legendary annual show has been marking the end of the year from New York's Times Square for decades, and 2018 is no exception. ABC News is forecasting a temperature of around 10 degrees with a wind chill of minus 4 when the calendar turns to 2018. The pop diva confirmed that she will return to Times Square in NY to ring in 2018, a year after she was humiliated by technical issues at the annual televised ball-drop. Ryan Seacrest will host the countdown festivities, as he has for the past 12 years.
