Green Bay Packers: Two defensive assistant coaches let go, per report

Green Bay Packers: Two defensive assistant coaches let go, per report

Green Bay was cruising along at 4-1, but since Rodgers' departure the Packers have lost 4-of-5, and tonight's game has gone from a battle of elite quarterbacks to an expected lamb going to the slaughter.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirmed the reports by ESPN and NFL Network.

He's also let go inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Of course, he's been Green Bay's DC since 2009.

But the Packers will always have 2010, when his defense would help them win a Super Bowl.

Capers has been defensive coordinator since 2009.

Capers is the third coordinator to be fired by Mike McCarthy in 12 years as head coach.

The Packers might also have to replace assistant head coach and linebackers coach Winston Moss, who has received interest from the Lions. Coincidentally the last time the Packers made a change at defensive coordinator. He was previously the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers.

The move is an especially big one for the Packers considering Adams has emerged as their No. 1 receiver over the past two years and was primed to entertain a serious bidding war on the open market.

The 67-year-old, who has spent eight years as a head coach in the National Football League with the Panthers and Texans with just one winning season, got off to a great start to his tenure with the Packers. There will be other changes among the defensive coaching staff to follow.
