An armed man believed to have ties to white supremacist groups has been charged with terrorism after he stopped an Amtrak train in Nebraska.
Wilson, traveling from Sacramento, California, to St. Louis, was found and subdued while "playing with the controls" in a follow engine on the eastbound California Zephyr, according to an Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit quoted by the Journal-Star.
Czaplewski said Wilson, who has a permit in Missouri to carry a concealed handgun, had a loaded.38-caliber handgun in his waistband, a speed loader in his pocket and a National Socialist Movement business card on him when he was arrested.
Wilson was arrested in October on suspicion of felony criminal mischief, trespassing and weapon charges.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents searched Wilson's home in December and found a tactical vest, 15 firearms, ammunition and white supremacy documents and paperwork.
"The facts set forth in the complaint affidavit indicate that defendant had great potential and the inclination to cause great harm to persons on the train and perhaps others in a nearby community if the train had actually wrecked", a magistrate wrote in a detention order this week.

Documents unsealed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Lincoln show 26-year-old Taylor Wilson, of St. Charles, Missouri, is charged with terrorism attacks and other violence against railroad carriers and mass transportation systems.
According to the affidavit, Wilson's firearms and electronic devices 'have been used for or obtained in anticipation of engaging in or planning to engage in criminal offenses against the United States'. A struggle broke out as train employees tried to subdue Wilson, who reached toward his waistband several times during the confrontation.
Czaplewski said they also found 15 firearms, including a fully-automatic rifle, ammunition and firearms magazines, and a tactical body armor carrier with ceramic ballistic plates.
Olney said "he knew a lot of the guys took guns with them [to the Charlottesville rally], but he did not know for certain if Wilson took anything other than a shield and bulletproof vest", the affidavit read.
Wilson was first arrested October 22 by the Furnas County, Neb., Sheriff's Office after he broke into a secured area on an Amtrak train and triggered the emergency brakes, bringing the train to a stop in a rural area about 200 miles southwest of Omaha.
A relative who had moved in with Wilson in a St. Charles home on Reservoir Avenue last June told investigators that Wilson had been "acting unusual".
Czaplewski said agents believe Wilson had traveled with members of the group to the Unite the Right rally at Charlottesville, Virginia, in August, where a woman was killed and 19 injured when a man used his vehicle to ram a crowd of counter-protesters. The license plate of the man's auto tracked back to Wilson. When police put together a photo lineup, which included Wilson's photo, the victim could not be found and the case was then placed as inactive.
The FBI was brought into the investigation early on and the terrorism complaint was filed in December. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Taylor Michael Wilson may also behind two alleged hate crimes in the St. Louis area.
The incident unfolded October 23 when Wilson allegedly breached a secure area of an Amtrak train as it was passing through a rural area near Oxford, Nebraska, and applied the emergency break, bringing the train to a rapid halt in what authorities said was an attempt to derail and wreck the train.
