Leonard suffers tear, out of NBA action

Leonard was ruled out of Sunday night's game at Portland, and the club plans to evaluate Leonard over the next couple days of its current road trip, which continues Monday at Sacramento and concludes Thursday in Los Angeles against the Lakers.

Of their absentees, the most worrying for them is superstar Leonard who only recently returned from a long spell out with a torn quad.

He'll miss a few more after suffering a partial tear in his left shoulder during Friday's 103-89 win over Suns.

"I don't think it will be a while", Popovich said regarding Leonard's status following the Spurs' 111-110 loss to the Trail Blazers. He has also won two Defensive Player of the Year awards. He appeared to be rounding into form lately, with back-to-back 20-plus point games against the New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns and at least 18 points in each of his last four games.

Since then he has been on a minutes restriction and rested regularly since returning, in true Gregg Popovich fashion, but Leonard has been fairly productive (15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game over just under 23 minutes per game).

The injury comes at a bad time for the 26-year-old as he began to produce his best basketball again in recent games.

They will certainly hope that this latest injury doesn't keep him out for too long.
