Trump Argues the Russia Investigation Is Hurting the US Government

President Donald Trump repeated his contention that there wasn't any collusion with Russian Federation, but he declined to say whether he would agree to a possible interview request from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian Federation meddling in last year's election.

Asked whether he would be willing to meet special counsel Robert Mueller, Trump deflected the question by repeatedly denying that investigators had found any evidence of collusion between his campaign team and Russian Federation.

When Roberts asked Trump whether he would be open to meeting with Mueller "without condition" or only do so under strict limitations on the scope of questioning, Trump responded that because there was "no collusion", it would be "unlikely that you'd even have an interview".

Despite dodging questions this week about his willingness to be interviewed by the special counsel, Trump said in June that he was "100%" willing to testify under oath about his conversations with James Comey, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director he fired.

The President also took the opportunity to attack his former Democratic political opponent Hillary Clinton, and insisted any collusion that's happened has been between Hillary Clinton and the Democrats, and the Russians.

The Department of Justice, headed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, reopened the investigation on January 4.

Later in the press conference, Trump told reporters he thought it was "better to work with Russia" on matters of global import - like North Korea - but said that his actions on energy development, as well as rebuilding the USA military, weren't policies that would earn him any praise from the Kremlin. It's a Democrat hoax that was brought up as an excuse for losing an election that frankly the Democrats should have won because they had such a tremendous advantage in the electoral college.

"It has been determined that there is no collusion", Trump falsely stated, "and by virtually everybody", which is a total lie. Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and a lower-level foreign policy adviser to the campaign have pleaded guilty to lying to Mueller's investigators and agreed to cooperate with the ongoing probe. Mueller and his investigators could use any statements they consider misleading or false against him.

"We'll see what happens", Trump said, with regards talk of a potential interview with Mueller.

"I mean, certainly, I'll see what happens", he said.
