Dark Souls: Remastered Announced for May Release on Xbox One

Sure, Dark Souls III is the "big closure" to the series, but Miyazaki never ruled out FromSoft revisiting earlier games in the series since remastering games is all the rage these days.

Perhaps we'll even see the first wave of Virtual Console games, which are said to include Gamecube releases.

Bandai Namco later in the day revealed that Dark Souls Remastered is also heading to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The report shared a info about the game release that soon Nintendo will announce Nintendo Direct Mini and Dark Souls Remastered will be part the announcement. The game will feature 1080p resolution with 30fps when playing the game on Switch with its TV mode.

The ports for Xbox One, PS4, and PC are being handled by a separate company from the Switch port. The game runs at 30 fps on the Nintendo Switch compared to the 60 fps on all the other platforms. New graphics and lighting, natch, plus online upgrades to bring it to a similar player count as later games in the series. The engine will also be improved to support six concurrent players, which should make covenants and invasions much more interesting. This edition offered all of the DLC for Dark Souls II, along with enhanced visuals for modern consoles.

Dark Souls Remastered, as its aptly been named, is set for release on the Switch on May 25th. Many will also be wondering what all of these recent Dark Souls developments could mean for the future of the franchise. Let us know by commenting in the comments section below.
