National Football League 2018 Divisional Round Preview: (6) Atlanta Falcons at (1) Philadelphia Eagles

National Football League 2018 Divisional Round Preview: (6) Atlanta Falcons at (1) Philadelphia Eagles

But the Falcons will have no shortage of motivation in their quest to topple the top team in their conference: Of the four No. 6 seeds to knock off the No. 1 seed since 2002, two of them went on to win the Super Bowl. Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota and his offense could have issues keeping pace with Tom Brady and the Patriots' No. 1-ranked attack. The Patriots are heavy favorites but don't underestimate the fight in the Titans. But a torn knee ligament suffered in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams cut short Wentz's Pro Bowl season, sent Philly fans spiraling into a depressive state and left the Eagles scrambling to make do with Foles. Philadelphia has generated just 13 points of offense in their last two games, and an extra week of preparation won't turn backup quarterback Nick Foles into the MVP candidate Wentz was this season. It was so bad I just don't want to talk about it. And, if you are looking for another silver lining for the Titans, the Chiefs were 26th against the run in yards per attempt in 2017.

Despite being the No. 1 seed, the Eagles enter the game as underdogs against the No. 6 seed Atlanta Falcons, a direct result of the team playing without quarterback Carson Wentz.

The playoffs are new territory for several players, however. "That's where it all starts, coming off the ball, the cadence and stuff like that".

"I haven't been here all season (he signed on November 14, 2017), but in the time I've been here, I've seen that we approach every week the same way".

Nick Foles will start in his first playoff game since 2013.

.

In what might be a defacto NFC championship game, the Vikings play host to the Saints at U.S. Bank Stadium. "I feel really good". Remember, Jacksonville already beat the Steelers in convincing fashion at Heinz Field back in October.

The Eagles need only look under center to see why they are suddenly seen as longshots. Meanwhile, this Patriots team isn't almost as good as many of their other teams over the last two decades, and yet, they're the overwhelming favorite to win the Super Bowl, again.

LeGarrette Blount has clearly been usurped by British born Jay Ajayi in the backfield as the number one back.

Foles is 65 of 105 (61.9 percent) for 842 yards with five touchdowns passes and one interceptions in those three games against Cover-3 defenses. Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers have had a soap opera-like season, but they are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games at this stage of the playoffs. After we won at Washignton but lost at KC a lot of media guys came in saying 'people think the Eagles are done.' We are over that. No one expects this to be a game.

After a week of build-up, the matchup all Eagles' fans have been waiting for is inching closer - and the team's head coach is expecting all of the built-up excitement to be unleashed on the Atlanta Falcons. Why, you ask? Because Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and the rest of the Falcon offense are very capable of scoring over 30 points. The Eagles defense is good but not good enough to carry the baggage of Foles.
