London artists recognised with Brit nominations

This year saw Dua Lipa's incredible single "New Rules" hold the #1 spot for 2 weeks, spend 7 weeks and counting in the top 5, become gold certified and break 270,000,000 views with the official music video.

East London rapper J Hus and platinum-selling songwriter Rag'n'Bone Man have three nominations apiece, including for best album, while Stormzy's "Gang Signs and Prayer" is also nominated.

Dua Lipa will compete for best female artist against the likes of Jessie Ware and 2015 victor Paloma Faith.

Victor of MTV Europe and NME's 2017 Best New Act, UK artist Dua Lipa will set "New Rules" at her first solo appearance in the UAE.

Sheeran is also nominated in the Best British Single category for his chart topping hit Shape Of You.

And her competition in the breakthrough act category includes J Hus, Loyle Carner, Sampha and Santan Dave.

The Halifax born pop star is also nominated in the best video category where former One Direction members Liam Payne and Harry Styles are also nominated for their singles Strip That Down and Sign of the Times.

In the best British group category, The xx face competition from Gorillaz, London Grammar, Royal Blood and Wolf Alice.

In the worldwide categories, Bjork, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Drake, LCD Soundsystem, HAIM, Arcade Fire, Alice Wolf, The Killers, and Alicia Keys have been nominated.

Taylor Swift, Lorde, Bjork, Pink and Alicia Keys are all nominated for best global female while actor Donald Glover's musical alter-ego, Childish Gambino, earns a nod in the best worldwide male category.

The 2018 BRIT Awards takes place on February 21 in London, and Ed Sheeran and Liam Gallagher have both been nominated for the Best Male Artist award.
