Ann Curry Is Not Surprised By Accusations Against Matt Lauer

Ann Curry Is Not Surprised By Accusations Against Matt Lauer

Ann Curry speaks on "CBS This Morning" about Matt Lauer and sexual harrassment at NBC on January 17, 2018.

Thinking back to that time, Curry now tells People that she's outraged that the alleged victims of Lauer's misconduct were forced to work in such an environment, telling the mag, "I wish I could say that I was celebrating".

"She just said that verbal sexual harassment was pervasive", CBS This Morning co-host Norah O'Donnell interjected. "I think it would surprise if somebody said they didn't see that".

In his book "Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV", CNN's Brian Stelter wrote "Ann Curry flunked chemistry badly nearly as soon as she was elevated to the co-host position in 2011".

Many have speculated, since the allegations of sexual harassment and assault torpedoed Lauer's career, that Curry would feel some vindication as a result. I don't wanna cause more pain. "I can tell you that I am not surprised by the allegations". That implies that, you know I'm walking down that street I'm trying not to hurt individuals.

Curry replied that she was "not going to start crying", a reference to her teary final moments on the "Today" couch.

Lauer lost his job after an employee filed a complaint about "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace".

Finally, NBC spiked its own reporters bombshell report, the one responsible this entire can of #MeToo worms, Ronan Farrow's exposé on Harvey Weinstein (he was forced to go to the New Yorker).

She said it was overdue that two women - Guthrie and Kotb - were the co-hosts of "Today". I'm trying not to hurt people, and I know what it's like to be publicly humiliated.

"We clearly are waking up to a reality, an injustice that has been occurring for some time", she continued. The unexpected departure is likely the public humiliation she referred to above.

In a new interview with People, Couric said she "had no idea any of this was going on during my tenure or after I left". "This is about power and power imbalance where women are not valued.I'm talking about people in the workplace who are abusing that power.the fact that we are moving against this imbalance of power is absolutely overdue". But actually I immediately checked myself. It goes to the structure of the place that women are entering to and what they face when they come in.

Curry, who left NBC for good in 2015, will return to television on January 23 with a new six-part PBS docuseries "We'll Meet Again". The show, which explores historic events through the experiences of ordinary people, begins airing on January 23.
