New Shooter Based on Alien Franchise Is Being Made by Fox

The studio's plan to release this new Alien shooter for PC and consoles suggests it will probably be more like Isolation than the other games. While that game was inspired more by the first Alien film, emphasizing stealth gameplay mechanics, it appears Cold Iron's game will be more in the vein of the Aliens sequel film.

Cold Iron Studios was established in 2015 by a group of industry veterans who worked on games such as Metroid Prime 3, Bioshock Infinite, and Neverwinter.

Cold Iron's project has a lot to live up to, thanks to Creative Assembly's sublime Alien: Isolation.

Given Cold Iron's history in massively multiplayer online games and comments made by FoxNext Games President of Studios Aaron Loeb, it also looks like there will be a heavy emphasis on multiplayer, squad-based gameplay with an online component.

The unnamed game is in development for the PC and consoles at Cold Iron Studios, a small development studio that was recently acquired by FoxNext.

CEO Craig Zinkievich looks forward to "the opportunity to explore an unbelievable and rich universe". "Games will be the defining entertainment medium of this century, in our view". Well, there's a chance for redemption this time around as Fox is once again working on a new shooter based on the Alien IP! "It's an incredibly important skillset and game type to add to our arsenal as we pursue our mission".

"It's Aliens! We're all excited to be working on such a storied franchise". To explore areas of the universe that fans haven't gotten to experience, to put a game in that setting, is incredible. Video game Alien: Colonial Marines was a critical and commercial flop while the movies Prometheus and Alien: Covenant are polarizing at best. Thanks to Alien Covenant under-performing at the Box Office previous year, 20th Century Fox has yet to announce anymore movies.
