Accused cop killer laughs in court: 'I wish I killed more'

Accused cop killer laughs in court: 'I wish I killed more'

Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes, 37, laughed as a prosecutor described the events that led to the death of Sacramento sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver outside a Sacramento motel. "He shot them both".

It's the latest in a series of outbursts by Bracamontes, who could face the death penalty if convicted. "More f-- cops are gonna be killed soon".

White previously ruled that Bracamontes was mentally competent, but Barbour asked for the judge to reconsider his decision.

As the prosecution laid out the horrific details, Bracamontes continued to laugh-a mental state his lawyers asked the judge to re-evaluate.

"I can't even imagine what these officers wives were going through hearing this", says Mary Ann Mendoza, whose son Mesa Police Sgt. Brandon Mendoza was killed by an illegal alien drunk driver.

He noted Bracamontes was high on methamphetamine at the time - which could have made him paranoid and agitated - and then tried kill himself and responding officers by turning on a gas stove at the home he holed up in ahead of his surrender.

"Please take him away", the judge told deputies, who escorted the heavily shackled prisoner away.

"Coward", Bracamontes reportedly blurted from his seat.

His wife, Janelle Monroy, is also charged in the slayings of Oliver and Placer County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Davis Jr. during a daylong crime spree.

"You will not disrupt this trial, you will not speak out", Sacramento Superior Court Judge Steve White replied after briefly excusing the jury.

He's charged with killing both deputies, shooting a motorist in the head to steal his vehicle and wounding another Placer County deputy.

Bracamontes was with his wife, 41-year-old Janelle Monroy, who is a US citizen, on the day of the killing spree.

Bracamontes has repeatedly proclaimed his guilt and has requested the death penalty at past court hearings, ABC News reported. I wish I killed more of those motherf***ers.
