Minnie Mouse getting star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Minnie Mouse getting star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

She waited 90 years and saw a trail of men and Disney princesses get there before her, but on Monday Minnie Mouse finally got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Mickey might be her main mouse, but Minnie still loves her girls.

Her star comes 40 years after Mickey received a star in 1978 for the film's 50th anniversary.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of Minnie Mouse's debut in entertainment with her appearance alongside Mickey Mouse in the original Disney classic "Steamboat Willie".

"Thank you oh-so-much for this wonderful honor".

Minnie is among the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2018.

"Minnie and Mickey printed diapers - that was my first memory ever and it turned into a lifelong devotion", the "Firework" singer said.

And while she's famous for "playing the damsel in distress", Iger said, "the truth is Minnie can hold her own in any situation".

"No one rocks a bow, or the color red, quite like her", Perry added.

There are more than 2,600 star built into the sidewalks along the Walk of Fame, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by Hollywood Historic Trust.

Walk of Fame ceremony organisers hailed the animated mouse's "fun-loving, independent personality".

Other Disney children's idols who have had been honoured on the Walk of Fame include Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh and Snow White.
