Woman Dies After Falling From Her Balcony on a Carnival Cruise Ship

Woman Dies After Falling From Her Balcony on a Carnival Cruise Ship

The ship has been released from search and rescue operations and is now en route to Cozumel, where it is scheduled to arrive later this evening.

Earlier, in February, Kevin Wellons, from Georgia, fell from the 11th deck of the Carnival Elation while the ship was near the Bahamas.

Maureen La Bryer told Miami Herald that her daughter sent a text message shortly after the incident, indicating that there was "blood everywhere".

Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vance Gulliken said that the 44-year-old woman fell from the Carnival Triumph on the second day of the five-day cruise from New Orleans. The cruise ship is operated by Carnival Cruise Line and some details have already been released by the cruise line on this worrying news.

Gulliksen said SEMAR is sending a ship to continue searching and "has assumed responsibility for the search and rescue activities".

A search effort has been launched for the overboard passenger and the Carnival Care team is supporting family and friends during this very hard time.

The passenger reportedly went overboard on Carnival Triumph when the ship was sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family". "They were taking pictures [and everything]".

Zion, who is from Nassau, The Bahamas, was traveling with her brother, mother and her mother's boyfriend when she tragically died.

His wife reported the 24-year-old missing the morning after his fall, and a 1,300-square-mile Coast Guard search for his body proved futile.
