Former Expo Vladimir Guerrero enters Baseball Hall of Fame

Newly-elected Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero met the press today and said that he would wear an Angels cap on his Hall of Fame plaque.

"I toiled over this for a long time, because the Canadian people mean a whole lot to me", he said through a translator. He still starred and built his Hall of Fame case in Anaheim, however, winning his lone MVP Award for the Angels and making multiple postseason appearances. Subcribing is quick and easy. The Expos are now the Washington Nationals. By choosing the Angels, Guerrero will make history.

After eight seasons in Montreal, Guerrero signed with the Angels prior to the 2004 season. Still, that Hall of Fame approval is not based exclusively on time served with each club. We are proud and privileged that he becomes the first player enshrined in Cooperstown wearing the Angels logo. He joined the Anaheim Angels in 2004 and was with them for their rebranding as the Los Angeles Angels.

Guerrero was an eight-time victor of the Silver Slugger Award as the best offensive player at his position and appeared in nine all-star games. He hit.323 with 234 home runs for Montreal and batted.319 with 173 homers for the Angels.

He had a career batting average of.318, belting 449 home runs and collecting 1,496 RBIs.

Guerrero, who was voted into the Hall of Fame on Wednesday night along with third baseman Chipper Jones, infielder Jim Thome and reliever Trevor Hoffman, announced his decision Thursday at a news conference with the rest of the 2018 class. The outfielder and designated hitter also played for the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles before retiring in 2011.
