PM Modi to address 6th World Government Summit at Dubai

Hun Sen arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the Commemorative Summit to mark 25 years of the India-Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) Dialogue Partnership and was among all 10 Heads of State or government of ASEAN nations who were guests of honour at this year's India's Republic Day celebrations.

"They also agreed that peace and maritime security is important for both countries", it stated.

Cambodia on Saturday signed a joint statement with India, where it mentioned "safety and security in the Indo-Pacific region", and supported "complete freedom of navigation and overflight" and "peaceful resolution" of maritime issues based on global law.

Hun Sen extended his visit to that of a State visit on Saturday. The two leaders had discussed the Palestine issue.

Earlier today, building upon cultural and civilisational linkages, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the visiting dignitary.

"I invite Indian investors to my country", he said. He said, India is eager to take forward its relationship with Cambodia in the fields of economy, culture, trade and people to people contacts.

He said India was the first country to recognise Cambodia's independence in 1953 and independent India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru was the first global leader to visit that country in 1954.

In Oman, the two sides are expected to focus on boosting trade ties.

The Cambodian PM also reminisced about the close friendship he enjoyed with the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi as well as former Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

PM Modi also said that he hoped bilateral trade will be more in coming times between India and Cambodia.

Cambodia also reiterated its support for India's permanent membership in a reformed and expanded UN Security Council. The documents were later exchanged in the presence of both the PMs, following the delegation-level talks between the two nations.
