Daniel Sturridge close to loan switch from Liverpool to Newcastle United

Daniel Sturridge close to loan switch from Liverpool to Newcastle United

After defeats to Swansea in the Premier League and West Brom in the FA Cup, Liverpool fans are calling on their club to make a signing or two before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday night.

Liverpool's Danny Ings was another target but Sturridge's exit means he will be staying at Anfield.

Inter have been heavily linked with a move for Sturridge and the striker is thought to be interested in a move to Italy.

Some recent reports have suggested the 28-year-old striker is going to wear the blue-black shirt this January after the Reds accepted Inter's loan offer for their wantaway star.

He's to undergo a medical ahead of completing a deal.

"This felt like the right fit", Sturridge told West Brom's official website.

Sevilla, West Ham and Inter Milan were among the sides that had indicated their interest in the striker.

Sturridge has started just five Premier League games this season, with injuries again affecting his ambitions to force his way into Klopp's team.

Lukaku smashed in 17 goals that season as Albion finished eighth. The Times reported that a move to St James' Park had appeared close, only for the player not to travel to Tyneside as was expected.

For their part, Liverpool and their fans will look for Sturridge to flourish at the Hawthorns and potentially return to Anfield rejuvenated at the end of his loan spell.
