Detroit Pistons: Andre Drummond named to the 2018 NBA All-Star Game

Detroit Pistons: Andre Drummond named to the 2018 NBA All-Star Game

He averages 14.7 points and 15 rebounds this season, compared to Simmons' 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He's also drastically improved his free throw shooting this season, hitting on 62.5 percent compared to just 38.6 percent a season ago. The Heat, which own the East's fourth-best record at 29-21, will not be represented.

The Heat were the lone team among the Eastern Conference playoff seeds without a selection when the All-Stars teams were rounded out last week with the announcement of coaches' selections for the reserves.

This year's All-Star Game features teams picked by captains LeBron James and Steph Curry, for the first time, a departure from the traditional team structure by conference. Ahead of the Cavs vs. Pistons game last night, King James couldn't hide his reaction to the news.

Simmons and Brown did not provide any context to their tweets, so we can't know for sure they were in reference to Drummond being named an All-Star over them.

No decision will make everyone happy.

Draymond Green said Celtics guard Jaylen Brown should have been the replacement. His team now sits in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference at 29-21.

Charlotte's Kemba Walker, Philadelphia's Ben Simmons, Detroit's Andre Drummond, and Miami's Goran Dragic will likely be in consideration for the spot.

Although the news is certainly very bad for Wall and the Wizards, one lucky player who fell just short of an All-Star bid will now receive the honor. Drummond received the most voting points from National Basketball Association head coaches among Eastern Conference players who were not selected as reserves.

Named as Eastern Conference reserves were Love, Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, Kyle Lowry, Wall, Al Horford and Victor Oladipo.
