Former NBA star, wife killed in vehicle crash

Former NBA player Rasual Butler and his wife, American Idol alum Leah LaBelle, died on Wednesday morning in a auto crash in Studio City, Calif.

Los Angeles Police said an SUV carrying two people was traveling on Ventura Boulevard when it lost control and hit three parking meters and a retaining wall.

Butler played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association from 2002 to 2015. Most recently, Ice Cube invited him to compete in the BIG3.

This story is still developing.... His best season came in 2008-09 with the Hornets when he played in all 82 games (74 starts) and averaged 11.2 points per game. Butler ended his career with the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, respectively.

Butler played one season for the Bulls in 2010-2011 in a limited reserve role, playing in six regular season games and then four in the playoffs as the team advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rasual Butler and his wife, Leah LaBelle".

His wife Labelle, previously appeared on American Idol and was signed to Epic Records. She understands things about being solid many adults struggle with!

Our thoughts are with Rasual and Leah's family and friends.

The report says LaBelle was a singer who placed 12th on American Idol in 2004.
