Spotify Is Testing a New Free Music App That's Like Pandora

For those who can try Stations, it's designed around big font and individual playlists, all created to build around your preferences without any real user interaction beyond select the playlist. It's not downloadable for any devices in Europe or the U.S. The streaming service allows users to log in with their Spotify accounts and choose from radio stations organized by genre like "pop" or "folk", or by region like "U.S Top 100".

Last October Spotify announced a brand new mobile app designed specifically to help artists, including their managers, and members of their entourage better manage their presence when using its service.

Spotify have quietly launched a new app on Android called Stations. "Spotify Stations" is flawless for anyone who wants to pull up a playlist or set a mood quickly, with very little effort.

Considering the fact that the app faces some strong rivalry from other streaming services like Pandora, Stations seem to be a viable alternative and will provide a more streamlined experience.

First discovered by Variety, Stations is only available in Australia for now. Premium users will be surprised to see the lack of a skip button, though. Spotify says that Stations starts playing as soon as it's opened, and all playlists are displayed in a large font. It also touts the fact that users don't need to search for anything, or type into the app at all.

"Stations is the easiest way to listen to the music you love". The app does not let users create their own playlists, but they are able to customise and hide the ones that have been curated for them.

"When you have access to all the music in the world, finding the right thing to play can feel like a challenge", the Google Play Store app description reads.
