Recruit's mom walks off stage after he chooses Florida on signing day

Recruit's mom walks off stage after he chooses Florida on signing day

His mother sitting beside him was wearing an Alabama sweatshirt and Tennessee hat.

National Signing Day is traditionally a joyous occassion for high school football players across the nation.

Copeland announced the decision live on ESPN2, choosing the Gators over Tennessee and Alabama. Their recruiting analysts are on the ground right now for National Signing Day.

The four-star recruit was choosing between the Gators, Alabama and Tennessee, and made a decision to go with Florida.

Ultimately, Copeland, who is rated as the No. 132 overall prospect in the 2018 class by Rivals.com, opted to stay in-state and play for new Florida coach Dan Mullen. Given that, you might've assumed she wanted him at either of those places. Seated to his right, she walked out of the announcement after her son put on a Florida hat.

Frankly, this is just inexcusable from the mother.

"We had a lot of conversations back and forth about where I should go to school", Copeland said while being interviewed on television during the awkward situation. However, you have to feel for the young man.

His mom did return to give Copeland a hug.

He sat next to his mother with the three university's hats before him.
