Some New Pokemon Are Flying Into Pokemon Go Very Soon

Pokemon trainers of the mobile, augmented-reality variety are in for a treat, as a smattering of new content is coming to the hit phone game "Pokemon Go", according to Polygon.

Pokemon Go most recently added 23 new generation 3 Pokemon, bringing the total number of Hoenn Pokemon in the game to 100 before today.

In addition to this set of Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza will also begin appearing in raid battles tomorrow and will remain in the game until March 16.

For more on Pokemon Go, see our full list of generation three Pokemon.

And in an unusual move, players will only encounter Gen 3 Pokemon until February 13. Niantic gave specific examples, like Metagross, Salamence and Altaria.

Pokemon Go became a huge success when it came out back in mid 2016. The new Hoenn Region Pokemon won't just be appearing in the wild encounters, but also in Eggs and Raid battles. The special boxes will stay in the store until February 23rd.

"With all of these Pokemon to catch and power up, it's important to stock up on supplies", Niantic continues. Lure Modules will also be more effective ("Super Effective", if you will) until February 23, lasting six hours, as opposed to the normal 30 minutes. "These items will be ideal aids in your Pokemon Go adventure". From tomorrow until February 13th, the game will be prioritising these flying and dragon Gen 3 creatures for wild spawns, so expect to find a lot over the next few days.

Reports suggest it will contain a multi-quest system, complete with a greater emphasis on supporting characters and story.
