Fiorentina boss Stefano Poli disagrees with overturned penalty vs. Juventus

Fiorentina boss Stefano Poli disagrees with overturned penalty vs. Juventus

Juventus moved to the top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina at the Juventus Stadium.

The winger scored a attractive freekick in the win against his former club, and after netting his fourth goal in the league, the 23-year-old celebrated wildly.

The Viola looked to have been awarded a penalty by the referee 17 minutes into the game after Marco Benassi's cross struck Giorgio Chiellini's arm from close range.

Jordan Veretout went up to take the spot-kick but after a three-minute viewing referee Marco Guida instead chose to award the visitors a free-kick for a supposed Benassi offside in the run-up.

The 23-year-old curled in a free-kick after 56 minutes for his fourth goal in six Serie A games started for Juventus to break the deadlock.

"It's never easy to win here", the striker told Sky Sport Italia.

But there was an incident in the first half that took centre stage.

Later, Fiorentina's Gil Dias broke free and got off a powerful shot that slammed off the woodwork in the 38th minute.

Fiorentina continued to threaten a goal of their own, with Buffon called into action 70 minutes in, charging off his line to deny the home side with his feet.

Friday's win also represented milestones for goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who played his 500th league match for Juve, and coach Massimiliano Allegri, who managed his 200th fixture across all competitions.

"I was waiting for the referee's decision ..." I think certain reactions ought to be avoided, but that's part of football.

"Now we have to recover for the Champions League". Bernardeschi, a product of Fiorentina's youth system, was playing his first match in Florence after joining record Serie A champions Juventus for around $45 million. "We have four players out, but we can't rush them back and then lose them even longer".
