Warriors' Draymond Green tells Kevin Durant 'f*** you'

Warriors' Draymond Green tells Kevin Durant 'f*** you'

Mario Hezonja is one such player, as he has played 29 (Hawks), 35 (Bucks) and 30 (Bulls) minutes in their last three games.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr did some experimenting during Monday's game against the Suns, allowing his players to coach their teammates during timeouts.

As the game continued, David West received a coaching nod in the huddle, as did Draymond Green, who sat out Monday's game with a sprained finger.

There is a multi-way battle going on for the top few spots in the NBA Draft Lottery and the Suns are simply one entity involved. But maybe Kerr is onto something here.

"It's the players' team, and they have to take ownership of it", Kerr told reporters afterward. As coaches, our job is job is to nudge them in the right direction, guide them. It had to do with me trying to reach my team.

"I wouldn't do that", Lue said "They already say LeBron's coaching the team anyway". It's a game we need to win.

Even Cavs coach Tyronn Lue.

There will undoubtedly be plenty of screaming on sports-talk shows Tuesday about whether it was disrespectful of Kerr to do this - or, in some cases, what level of disrespect that it produced. Both changed the Warriors' and Celtics' culture and on-court mentality, in the process making each team elite in a very short time span. Before this season, Green had missed only 12 of 397 career games. It's emotionally draining for these guys to play night after night, people coming after them. It happened when Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard demanded coach Stan Van Gundy's departure in 2012.

Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue said he would never hand over his huddle to players. "He just knows how to relate to each and every one of us players and his coaching staff and you're building that ultimate trust throughout the organization". In fact, over their last five games, they boast a 3-2 record. For example, he's identified leadership qualities in Green, whom he used to coach for most of the game. Three seasons ago this team exploded into the national consciousness and won its first title. In an National Basketball Association era when coaches are as inessential as ever, it's time for a revival.

Maybe Kerr has some legitimate concerns about the Warriors growing tired of hearing the same voice. He did whatever we did to prepare for Golden State, whatever that might be, so I told the guys to make sure, before we left the gym to get Nick Kerr's cellphone so he couldn't text it to Steve Kerr.
