Facebook launches 'Lists' to personalise status update box

Facebook launches 'Lists' to personalise status update box

Like any status update, your list will be shared on your Facebook News Feed for all your friends to comment on and respond with their relevant reactions.

If this new feature is received as well as a similar feature did on the long forgotten Myspace and early inceptions of Facebook then Mark Zuckerberg may achieve his goal of not only getting them to allocate more time to Facebook but also to stimulate better interactions among friends.

As per the report, Facebook with the introduction of this new feature is trying to add much more personalised content to the platform, so that users don't see a lot of random content filling up their news feeds.

The latest feature to be added to the Status Updates box lets you list nearly anything. The feature, like it sounds, lets users make lists of anything they choose - New Year's Resolutions, To Do's, restaurants to try, travel ideas, and more. Interestingly, users can also add coloured backgrounds and Emojis to the Lists.

The rollout of this new feature may only annoy people because users will flood the News Feed with annoying updates.

As per a TechCrunch report, the Facebook Lists feature is the first major update in the status box after the coloured backgrounds option that was introduced a year ago.

However, over the years as the threat to online privacy has increased, people have started posting lesser of personal content on the web. According to a report from eMarketer this week, Facebook lost approximately 2.8 million U.S. users under 25 in 2017, and will lose around 2.1 million more this year.

Update to the latest version of the Facebook app for either Android or iOS. It should be next to other options like Check In, Photo/Video, Tag Event, and Support Nonprofit.

The social networking made a significant update to its News Feed last month. But when it does, you'll be able to create lists that can be personalized with different colors and emoji and organized via bullet points or numbers.
