Costumes, beads and music: Mardi Gras comes to a close

Police clarified Wednesday that two teenage boys were wounded in one of the parade route shootings.

A search of criminal court records in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish doesn't reveal any priors for Dingle.

The 30-year-old victim of the homicide has not yet been publicly identified.

Investigators say the victim was involved in an argument with another man who allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire. Rex, which is the city's oldest parading group, decorated 21 of their 28 floats with images of the city's history.

Deputy Police Superintendent Paul Noel said one man was shot in the head and was in critical condition, while a juvenile boy was in stable condition with a leg wound.

New Orleans police are investigating separate fatal shootings Fat Tuesday near the parade route.

Two people were wounded in the Central Business District on Mardi Gras Day after a fight broke out and gunfire went off near the parade route.

Another victim was taken to the hospital by emergency services and died there.

However, sources close to the Comic Cowboys krewe told Yellowhammer News to expect them to be back at full strength for next Mardi Gras.

Witnesses described a fusillade of bullets that targeted men in a vehicle outside a house where a party was going on a few miles from the parade route and hours after Tuesday's last parade.

Police spokeswoman Ambria Washington said Tuesday night that five people were shot, two fatally, before driving to a gas station in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward. Police tape surrounded the area as dozens of people looked on. At that scene and outside the family home of some of the victims a few blocks away, mourners were still wearing festive Mardi Gras shirts and hats.
