Florida Shooting, Zuma Out, A Plane Falls Apart Mid-Flight

Florida Shooting, Zuma Out, A Plane Falls Apart Mid-Flight

Nikolas Jacob Cruz was booked into the Broward County Jail early Thursday, still wearing the hospital gown he was given after being treated for labored breathing following his arrest.

On Wednesday, after the shooting, Cruz was able to leave the school after the shooting by blending in with other students who were trying to escape, but he was apprehended shortly thereafter. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said on the Senate floor.

Televised images showed dozens of students, their arms in the air, weaving their way between law enforcement officers with heavy weapons and helmets, and large numbers of emergency vehicles including police cars, ambulances and fire trucks. He said Cruz would set off the fire alarm, day after day, and finally got expelled in the eighth grade.

Twelve of the dead were killed inside the school, two others just outside, one more on the street and two other victims died of their injuries at a hospital, Israel said.

Charles said he passed four dead students and one dead teacher on his way out, and was relieved to finally find his mother.

"Our Nation grieves with those who have lost loved ones in the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida". Cruz had once been expelled from the school over disciplinary problems, Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said told CNN.

Dakota Mutchler, another junior, said he used to be friends with Cruz. A 16-year-old suspect was charged with aggravated assault.

Jillian Davis, 19, said she was in a school Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps with Cruz in the 9th grade.

"She was very nervous, she said that she could hear the person who was shot crying out for help, and was just a nervous wreck", Rozenblat said.

"It wasn't like there wasn't concern for him", Furr said.

Florida senator Marco Rubio, a Republican, warned that people should not "jump to conclusions" and assume "that there was some law that we could have passed that would have prevented" the Wednesday shooting.

There was a shooter on campus and there was no time - that's all she knew. Cruz would also talk a lot about having guns and using them in different situations, she said.

"Just a terrible day for us", said the superintendent of the county's school district, Robert Runcie. The boy's mother told him to turn off his ringer. He said several district security officials knew of the shooter. They knew he had a gun and made him keep it in a locked gun cabinet in the house, which Cruz had the key to. "Those statistics do not occur in any other high-income country on this planet", he said, urging the members of the US Congress to use their "power to make the world safer for all children". "There were problems with him a year ago threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus". The suspect was a former student of the school, according to Israel.

"He always just seemed very quiet and unusual", Minoff told CNN's Don Lemon.

Student Daniel Huerfano said he recognized Cruz from an Instagram photo in which Cruz had posed with a gun in front of his face.

Student Daniel Huerfano told The Associated Press he remembers seeing Cruz walking around the school with his lunch bag, adding, "He was that weird kid that you see ... like a loner".
