There is no mercy with the new Karate Kid series, 'Cobra Kai'

There is no mercy with the new Karate Kid series, 'Cobra Kai'

Set thirty years after the events of the classic movie, the YouTube Red series centers around Lawrence who is down on his luck and decides to reopen the Cobra Kai dojo in order to find redemption.

Not too long ago, we found out that the series finds Johnny as a septic tank cleaner whose life has become rather depressing, so much that he's even mistaken for a homeless person.

In the video for Cobra Kai, Johnny is shown reopening the Cobra Kai dojo, which angers Daniel.

The new film is called "Cobra Kai", and there's now a trailer teasing it.

The series reportedly brings the Johnny-Danny rivalry down to a new generation, but seeing the two old adversaries themselves face off in the preview gives some 1980s kids shivers. In the teaser, Johnny has once again embraced the Cobra Kai philosophy that "mercy is for the weak".

As for Daniel's family, Courtney Henggeler (Mom) will play his wife and business partner Amanda, and Mary Mouser (Freakish) plays their daughter, Samantha, who is described as a firecracker.

The rest of the teaser is pretty vague, but color us intrigued!

The series will center around Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), who Johnny looks to mentor after he's tortured by bullies, Johnny's son Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), who doesn't want to be anything like his old man. It looks like we may have our chance to find out, judging from the first teaser below for Cobra Kai.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg penned the script for "Cobra Kai", and will executive produce with Susan Ekins, Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett.
