Fergie on national anthem backlash: 'I'm a risk taker'

Fergie on national anthem backlash: 'I'm a risk taker'

American singer Fergie broke her silence on Monday, Feb. 19, after her rendition of the national anthem at Sunday's NBA All-Star Game sparked controversy.

He tweeted: "Fergie, I love you".

It hasn't been a good weekend for Fergie - who sang her unique version of the Star-Spangled Banner before the NFL All-Star game on Sunday night. "I think mine was better lowkey", Barr wrote on Twitter.

The song was universally panned on social media, with Twitter lighting up with comments from people trashing Fergie's style choice.

During Fergie's performance, several stars in the audience appeared to laugh, including Chance The Rapper and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

After the criticism, TMZ reported Fergie released a statement, explaining that she has always been a risk-taker artistically and that she really "tried my best".

Fergie Responds To Criticism Of Her Star Spangled Banner Performance

Roseanne was also criticized for her performance of the national anthem back in 1990 at an Major League Baseball game.

Strength recognizes strength, and when it comes to singing creative versions of the National Anthem, always outspoken Roseanne star Roseanne Barr is the GOAT of very bad Anthems.

The celeb's voice sounded wonderful, but people were not insane about her bluesy and sexy delivery of 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

And, judging by the tweets, everyone was ~seriously~ confused, even Khloe Kardashian! To put it lightly, it was Mariah Carey's 2014 Rockefeller Center performance of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and last year's New Years Eve performance all over again. WTF is going on?

"The NBA Players laughed more at Fergie's bad attempt at the National Anthem more than Kevin Hart's jokes", Nick tweeted. It was different. It was sexy.
