Fox News to Launch Standalone Subscription Service By End of 2018

Fox News will launch Fox Nation, a streaming, over-the-top subscription video service, in the fourth quarter of this year. To double the excitement of the Fox News viewers, it has also announced that there is no need of any cable package in order to subscribe Fox Nation.

Fox News is expected to make an official announcement Tuesday; the cost of the subscription is still being discussed, the Times reported.

While Fox Nation will include a 20-year archive of Fox News programming, the focus of the platform will be live shows and long-form programming "geared entirely toward the Fox News superfans", according to a statement from John Finley, senior vice president of development and production. They'll soon be joined by Fox News. These are the folks who watch Fox News every night for hours at a time, the dedicated audience that really wants more of what we have to offer ... Due to Fox New Channel's contractual agreements with cable operators, none of the network's 24-hour programming would appear on the service, not even reruns. It would also not primarily rely on Fox News personalities, instead offering up a slate of new anchors and commentators.

Fox Nation will be housed at FOX News headquarters in NY utilizing its new state-of-the-art technology and the most modern studio space in the industry.

"This is a way for us to meet that demand", Finley said. In January, the network cited Nielsen research that showed Fox News is the most-watched cable news network for 16th year in a row.
