More ice in the forecast Monday night through Tuesday

While the bulk of the freezing rain overnight passed through central Iowa, additional freezing rain and drizzle is expected into the morning.

Melting snow and frozen ground are factors that increase the potential for flooding, forecasters said. Precipitation will stop by midday for the majority of the WKOW area, with rain and a few rumbles continuing in our far south and southeast sections through the mid-afternoon before moving out of here before the evening commute.

Saturday's high in Madison was 29 at 1:54 p.m., 3 degrees below the normal high and 32 degrees below the record high of 61 for February 17, set in 1981. Roads are partially to mostly ice covered in these areas.

Freezing drizzle/rain in northwest and northern Oklahoma and icing is possible for morning drive.

The only area where there's good winter driving conditions is southern Wisconsin, except for slippery stretches on Highway 18/151 west of Madison. For meteorological winter, Madison has received 27.2 inches, 5.9 inches below normal.

We're still trying to iron out the forecast details for later this week because we have more rain (and snow) chances prior to the weekend. It's that wintry mix chance we're concerned about Thursday night and again on Saturday morning.

A total of one tenth of an inch of ice is expected tonight thanks to freezing rain.

There's a chance of snow showers throughout the week in the Santiam Pass, but the storm likely won't create incredibly hard conditions.

Much of the state is waking up to icy conditions Tuesday.

Borremans said it should be mostly sunny and 33 next Tuesday.

The temperature at 7 a.m. was 31 degrees in Wyandotte County.
