Trump is the worst president in U.S. history -Politics experts

Trump is the worst president in U.S. history -Politics experts

President Trump scored a mind-boggling 12.34 out of 100.

President Donald Trump took last place in a new survey that aims to measure "presidential greatness".

With 170 respondents to their latest survey, the two were able to compare the results to a previous survey they had conducted in 2014 to see how views have changed over time.

The American Political Science Association is out with a new ranking of United States presidents for Presidents' Day, but don't expect the current White House occupant to be celebrating the results. "His average rating is 12.34, which is almost three points lower than James Buchanan (15.09), who previously occupied the lowest rank". Ulysses S. Grant also got a bump, up seven places from 2014, perhaps owing to a strong assist from Ron Chernow's recent masterpiece.

Mr. Clinton dropped from 8th to 13th and Jackson from 9th to 15th.

Presidents Thomas Jefferson, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, and Lyndon Johnson rounded out the top 10.

Trump may be bad, but he has not yet launched an unnecessary and catastrophic war (George W. Bush), helped usher in the Great Depression (Herbert Hoover), or help launch a catastrophic (but perhaps necessary) war (Buchanan).

"In sum, Trump's freshman year grades were not strong, even among those experts most likely to support him", the study says.

Instead, a vote by those same experts found Franklin Delano Roosevelt the overwhelming favorite to finish out the Rushmore monument.

Trump placed at the bottom, in 44th place. Despite this, the survey's researchers note "dozens of presidents have had slow starts and have course corrected to improve their public esteem", and that Trump's presidency "may alter perceptions of presidential legacies as his unique approach to the office continues to surprise".
