Kentucky basketball to conduct internal review into possible NCAA violations

Kentucky basketball to conduct internal review into possible NCAA violations

Yahoo Sports dropped a bombshell of a report Friday morning, implicating several ACC programs in the FBI investigation into men's college basketball.

At least 20 Division I basketball programs and more than 25 players were listed that violated NCAA rules.

The report says federal authorities reviewed hundreds of pages from a year-long probe that names numerous college basketball athletes tied to former NBA agent Andy Miller and his former associate Christian Dawkins. Sports shows "potential impermissible benefits and preferential treatment" for current and former players and families of players at Duke, USC, Clemson and many other big-time schools.

Expense reports from Dawkins, who was eventually fired from ASM for charging $42,000 in Uber rides to Phoenix Suns guard Elfrid Payton's credit card, appear to show payments to current and former prospects, their families, handlers, and schools, according to the report.

But, if they are being "defrauded", it's only because of archaic NCAA rules, which the university administrators could easily band together to change, that are essentially created to try to prevent flooding water from finding a way.

Josh Jackson's mother allegedly received a $2,700 payment.

Kyle Kuzma and Malcolm Brogdon are also listed as receiving payments.

"There are spreadsheets detailing who got paid, how much they got paid and how much more they were planning to pay", Yahoo Sports reports.

In a balance sheet belonging to ASM, former NC State player Dennis Smith Jr. was listed under the subheading, "Loan to Players", with an amount of $43,500.

"We just became aware of this new information through media sources, and we take these allegations very seriously".

Much of this information was found after a raid on former National Basketball Association agent Andy Miller's office. Those schools include Alabama, USC, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Texas and Michigan State and some of the players involved are Wendell Carter, Collin Sexton and Miles Bridges. The probe, which reportedly lasted several years, has discovered that Miller and Dawkins assisted in spending up to six figures illegally on these amateur athletes. "At this time, we have no further comment". "Washington Athletics is committed to full compliance with NCAA legislation and with any investigations that may result from these allegations".

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports this afternoon that UK Coach John Calipari stated today neither he nor any of his staff have utilized any agent to provide benefits to current or former players. "Of course, we will fully cooperate with any investigations or inquiries".
