CDC worker missing 2 weeks after going home sick in Georgia

CDC worker missing 2 weeks after going home sick in Georgia

Police in Atlanta, US say a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employee has been missing for more than a week.

Police said Cunningham's parents went to his home and found his wallet along with several other belongings.

Timothy's father Terrell Cunningham said that he also left his dog, Beau at home. "Your child is missing", Terrell Cunningham tells ABC News.

Dr. Cunningham's friends and family have been searching since he disappeared, canvassing his neighborhood, distributing flyers, and using social media networks, his close friend David Calloway told NBC News.

Cunningham's family and Crime Stoppers are offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. Police stated at this time they do not have any evidence of foul play in the case, but it is their practice to explore any and every possibility in such a case. If you have information about his disappearance, please contact the Atlanta Police Department's Missing Persons Unit at 404-546-4235. "He loves his job".

As an epidemic intelligence officer, the Morehouse and Harvard alumni's position required him to deploy to areas of public health emergencies, including superstorm Sandy, Ebola and zika, which threaten people's lives.

His parents said they later discovered his phone, wallet, auto and keys as well as his dog at his Atlanta home.

"Tim never leaves Beau unattended", his father said.

Cunningham is pretty well-known in the Atlanta community. Cunningham is a commander at the CDC and was once named to the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 40 under 40.

Joe Carlos, a close friend and Morehouse classmate of Cunningham's, spoke to him the week prior, when the two purchased tickets to an event for the anniversary of their alma mater. "None of this makes sense", his brother, Anterio, told Fox 5 Atlanta. "Not having his phone, leaving his dog Bo alone, he just wouldn't voluntarily check out like that".

His mother, Tia-Juana Cunningham, said "There has been an outpouring of love from his neighbors and the community, but my main focus is just that my son returns home".
