Potential measles exposure in Orange, Putnam counties

Potential measles exposure in Orange, Putnam counties

This gets announced by the New York State Department of Health last week that the tourist who visited these two boroughs and to many tourist locations as well, between Feb 16 and Feb 21 has been diagnosed with measles.

The visitor arrived in the city on February 16 and checked into a room at the La Quinta Inn located in the Upper Westside of Manhattan.

Oasis Bible Tours at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Ave., New York, N.Y., the morning of February 16, and the evening of Feb. 17, 2018.

Watchtower Educational Center, 100 Watchtower Drive, Patterson, NY, between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on February 19.

From there, the man went to the Watchtower Educational Center in Putnam County on February 19 and stayed at the Best Western hotel in Brooklyn that night.

-Comfort Inn & Suites Goshen - Middletown, 20 Hatfield Lane, Goshen, NY.

Excel Urgent Care, 1 Hatfield Lane, Goshen, NY, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on February 21.

Orange Regional Medical Center, Emergency Department, 707 E. Main Street, Middletown, NY.

Complicating the matter is the fact that the virus can remain commutable both in the air and on solid surfaces for two hours.

Symptoms of measles include fever, rash, cough, conjunctivitis or runny nose.

They usually show up 10-12 days after exposure.

The Department of Health is now asking the people who will see some symptoms, to take immediate treatment.

Although the risk of developing the virus is low for those who have been immunised, the episode is noteworthy given New York City's population density and the Australian's travel route.

The Health Department, she explained, provided affected individuals with relevant information and offered support for individuals who did not know whether or not they had been vaccinated. The Hospital will be taking extraordinary precautions with regard to the prevention of the Measles' spread, specifically through isolating individuals who display symptoms which indicate a possible Measles infection. This will help to prevent others at these facilities from being exposed to the illness.

The single best way to prevent measles is to be vaccinated. In New York State, measles immunization is required of children enrolled in schools, daycare, and pre-kindergarten.

Given the large number of people in New York City daily, and the populated areas the tourist had gone to.
