Tamimi family, IDF clash over cause of Palestinian teen's head wound

Tamimi family, IDF clash over cause of Palestinian teen's head wound

Tamimi, who was arrested by IDF troops operating in Nabi Saleh overnight Sunday, is a relative of Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian Arab teenager who was videotaped harassing and slapping IDF soldiers stationed in Nabi Saleh. Despite knowing that they are minor, Israeli authorities handcuff them.

The village has been witnessing intensive night raids by Israeli army, said the village head, since the detention of the Palestinian resistance icon, 16-year-old Ahed Tamimi on December 17, after a video of her slapping an Israeli soldiers who stormed her home went viral on the internet.

"׎Israel arrested an injured, post-traumatic 15-year-old in the middle of the night and got him to lie out of fear of being sent to prison in his condition", their statement said.

Mohammed required an "intensive surgery, where part of his skull was removed, in order to dislodge the rubber bullet", Amnesty International had reported.

The Tamimi family statement also noted that this attempt to deny that Mohammed had been shot by an Israeli soldier followed a freaky claim from another senior Israeli official who argued that Ahed and her cousins were unrelated actors only pretending to be oppressed by Israel. What began as a far-fetched claim we are not a real family has descended into an attempt to deny documented reality. She had heard that Israeli soldiers shot her cousin just minutes before. "I could not keep quiet and I responded as I did", Tamimi testified. Ahed is now being prosecuted behind closed doors in an Israeli military court that has a conviction rate of over 99 percent.

The family of Muhammad Tamimi, who lost a third of his skull after being attacked by Israeli soldiers past year, have proven wrong Israeli officials who accused them of inventing the story, according to the Times of Israel.

Gaby Lasky, who represents members of the Tamimi family including Ahed, said that Muhammad was questioned without the presence of a parent or any other adult.

Citing an article in which Muhammad's father Fadel described how his son took a rubber bullet to the skull while witnessing December clashes with IDF soldiers, Mordechai blasted the Tamimi family as a group of con-artists.

Lasky called on the IDF to release Ahed Tamimi from jail, adding that, "it's clear now, if it hadn't been already, that this military establishment can not mete out justice in Ahed's case". A response from his family was also added, along with his medical records.
