Nokia 7 Plus with Android One unveiled at MWC 2018

Nokia 7 Plus with Android One unveiled at MWC 2018

On the MWC 2018, the company announced the rebooted Nokia 8110 phone which become famous by the 1999 movie, The Matrix. It showed off their new phones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona over the weekend.

In a nod to the "banana phone" nickname it earned courtesy of the curved design, HMD is offering the Nokia 8110 in banana yellow and, for those who want a more Matrix-like phone, black. There isn't a lot that manufacturers can do when it comes to processor speeds, and we've reached a point of diminishing returns in terms of the amount of RAM and storage that can be stuffed into a phone. As far as the specification of this phone are concerned, the device sports a 5.5-inch QHD pOLED display with 1440×2560 pixels of screen resolution. It comes with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It includes 512MB RAM and has 4GB of internal memory.

HMD Global had a great start with their Nokia line up previous year, and it looks like they are keen not to lose any of that momentum.

Nokia 8 Sirocco features a glass design, just like the latest-generation over-priced iPhones. The Nokia 7 Plus also comes with the Nokia Pro camera mode (a la the Lumia phones of yore) that offers manual control over nearly all aspects of imaging with real time adjustments. It uses 1,500 mAh battery, but requires only little energy as compared to more modern smartphones.

The dual-camera setup on the back, made by Zeiss optics, features 12 and 13 MP sensors. On the front, it features a 5 Megapixel of front facing camera as a selfie shooter camera. That said, the India price of these phones is still unknown, but that's something we will know once HMD Global makes these phones official in India. This time the legendary phone is launched with 4G LTE support. It bears an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. The glass back allows for built-in Qi wireless charging. The smartphone has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance. Incidentally, if you've been a Nokia user for long enough, it's worth mentioning that the Nokia 1 has Express-On covers. Google's big bet to connect the next billion is called Android Oreo Go Edition, a special configuration of Android, designed from scratch, for entry-level devices. The company is expected to launch its next flagship model at the end of March, making its appearance at MWC a slightly muted one.
