Pochettino: I'd quit Tottenham if fans turned on me

Pochettino: I'd quit Tottenham if fans turned on me

Manager Mauricio Pochettino named a strong team, despite the looming visit of Juventus in the Champions League, and they took full advantage of some early dominance through Son's stylish finish just before the half-hour mark.

Pochettino said he would never allow football to turn his hair grey after revealing he originally wanted to retire as a manager in four years' time but is now uncertain as to when he will call it a day.

Pochettino was also asked if he would resign if he lost the backing of Spurs' supporters, and he responded: "If your own fans didn't want you, like you, there is no point in carrying on working, because you are going to damage your club". OK, I'm going to improve and enjoy my job but if I'm going to suffer or create a drama in my life, I prefer to go away.

Things are rosy at Tottenham as they remain on course for sealing a Champions League place by virtue of a top-four finish and are still in good shape in the knock-out stages of the European competition, along with the FA Cup.

As fans contiue to voice their protest against North-London rivals Arsenal's boss Arsene Wenger, Pochettino told that he would leave the club if fans turned against him. The manager has to choose 11 players but there are many more.

When I watched football and all the problems and the manager is always criticised by everyone and tries to defend themselves, sees the phantom and is fighting with you, fighting with the fans. "You win or lose, but no drama". "For me that is the most important thing because then it is a stadium that will be there forever".

"When I was young, when I started my career as a manager I was 36, I said, "OK, I will be a manager and my limit is 50".

"I don't know how it is going to work".

"I think from the first moment I understood his philosophy in football, and I try to go between the team and him to act as a leader, even if I have to think about myself too". I think this is the most attractive period in England to play football. "I don't know if I will be longer like Roy [Hodgson] or [Alex] Ferguson or Wenger, or maybe I will stop before".
