Allison Janney thanks long-time St. Paul resident in Oscar acceptance speech

Allison Janney thanks long-time St. Paul resident in Oscar acceptance speech

Asked if her day-to-day life might change now that she's an Oscar victor, Janney said she had to go right back to work at 10 a.m. Monday for a table read for her CBS sitcom "Mom".

The Oscar win continues her awards show sweep this year, with honors that include a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, a SAG Award, and an Independent Spirit Award.

Allison Janney took home the trophy for her work in "I, Tonya".

Allison Janney is now an Academy Award victor.

Janney then credited her co-stars, the others who worked on the film, her family, and yes, the bird that almost stole the show from its perch on Janney's shoulder in the movie. "So I'm happy that I have "Mom" -- the people at "Mom" to lift me up and keep me -- keep me going and keep me focused", she said. "I kind of love that I have something to do tomorrow no matter what because [my Mom co-stars and crew] all love me there and they will love me no matter what happens".

"I love the kinds of women's roles that I get to play".

"I did it all by myself", she joked in her acceptance speech, then paused for a moment before saying "that's nothing farther from the truth". My heart broke a little for her watching these interviews because you can see underneath the denial of the hurt that's there. She recently starred on Broadway SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION for which she received a Tony Award nomination.

"We're just so happy for her", Janney's father Jervis told the Dayton Daily News by phone shortly after she won. Her films include "The Help", "The Hours", and "Juno".

She said: "He wrote this for me to do just that, to show a different side of me and what I can do". "I think I'm going to get him a Rolex".
