Seventh set of remains linked to alleged Toronto serial killer Bruce McArthur

Seventh set of remains linked to alleged Toronto serial killer Bruce McArthur

According to The Canadian Press, Toronto police have recovered a seventh set of remains linked to the alleged serial killer.

Only three of the bodies have been officially identified - Andrew Kinsman, 49, Soroush Mahmudi, 50, and Skandaraj Navarantnam, 40.

Idsinga said the photo was released after police exhausted all other avenues to identify the man.

"I can't really get into specifics about why we didn't realize there were seven remains there, but we had the planters several weeks ago", Idsinga said.

The arrest of McArthur, a self-employed landscaper who sometimes worked as a mall Santa, has roiled the LGBTQ community in Toronto.

A picture of an what investigators believe is an unidentified victim was also released.

Investigators also believe there could be more victims.

McArthur has also been charged with first-degree murder in the presumed deaths of 44-year-old Selim Esen, Majeed Kayhan, 58, and Dean Lisowick, either 43 or 44.

He refused to detail where the photo was taken and stressed that it was not clear whether the most recent remains found belong to the unidentified man.

McArthur has been found guilty in six charges of murder.

Idsinga said they've now found the dismembered remains of at least seven individuals this year in large planters at a home where McArthur did landscaping work and stored objects.

"I do not want to release this picture and am doing so as a last resort", said Idsinga.

Finger print and dental analysis both failed to yield any results, and it could be months before the more rigorous DNA analysis process is completed.

He has not commented on the cause of death for any of the victims. His case is due back in court March 14.

Det-Sgt Hank Idsinga is seen walking back to a Police Command Vehicle after briefing the media at a Toronto property where alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur worked, Thursday, February 8, 2018. There are also a number of other properties in the Greater Toronto Area that will get renewed attention from police as the weather warms and the ground thaws.

A source told Global News that McArthur, who police had identified as someone who may have been involved with the disappearance of Kinsman back in September 2017, was arrested after officers witnessed a man going into his Thorncliffe Park apartment on the morning of January 18.

McArthur was further charged in the death of Skandaraj Navaratnam late last month.

McArthur is charged with six counts of first-degree murder in the cases of six men.

The detective was joined at the news conference by Dr. Michael Pollanen, the chief forensic pathologist for the province, to explain the scope of the investigation.
