Vehicle ploughs into pedestrians - two children killed, pregnant woman critical

Vehicle ploughs into pedestrians - two children killed, pregnant woman critical

Surveillance video shows the chilling moment that a vehicle fatally struck two small children in the stroller-mom enclave of Park Slope on Monday.

The children's moms, including one who is pregnant, were injured.

Staten Island resident Dorothy Bruns reportedly drove through a red light, hitting the pedestrians in the crosswalk, and continued driving, dragging Joshua's stroller nearly a block, until she crashed into another vehicle, according to the Daily News report. EMT arrived on the scene to the tragic sight, and had to assist the mother as her little girl lay on the ground.

Multiple reports say Bruns told investigators she suffered a medical condition while driving.

A PIX11 reporter on scene witnessed a pregnant woman and two children in a stroller get off a bus when they were struck by a driver who appeared to be speeding up to make it through a light.

The driver remained emotionless after the collision that claimed the lives of the 1- and 4-year-old kids, firing off text messages on her phone as paramedics loaded her into an ambulance, witnesses claimed.

Bruns was transported to NYU Langone Hospital in stable condition and has not been charged. We do not know exactly what happened yet, there's a full investigation underway. The driver was taken into custody.

"We are praying for the families are going through this tragedy", de Blasio said.

Brad Lander, the city councilman who represents the area, told the Daily News the tragedy is "a parent's worst nightmare". "She is always kind and always has a smile".
