The Division 2 Confirmed, Full Reveal at E3 2018

The Division 2 Confirmed, Full Reveal at E3 2018

The only concrete information is that original developer Massive Entertainment is already working on The Division 2, and that it will be announced in full at E3 in June.

In addition, the company posted a blog post from Julian Gerighty, the Creative Director over at Massive Entertainment.

"It wasn't an easy decision to make a sequel, but there were so many stories to explore and we felt a sequel was the best way to investigate [with The Division 2]", said Massive on the stream.

Ubisoft and Massive have promised that the first game will not be suddenly abandoned and they have plans for the title beyond its Year 2 celebration.

According to German site de.4-traders.com, Massive Entertainment is working with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai to bring The Division 2 to life. Two additional title updates are also in the pipeline. While initially it seems this game was set to be revealed at E3, a slip up has let the cat out the bag a little early. There will also be a new update called Shields coming to the original The Division, which will unlock special rewards for the sequel. The team also really wanted to show off how far the game's engine has come since the first game was released two years ago today. How it will play remains unknown, although we imagine it will focus on multiplayer and collectable loot much like its predecessor. It centered on a group of agents from the Strategic Homeland Division, aka The Division, who were tasked with retaining order and discovering the source of the outbreak in New York City following a smallpox pandemic that started on Black Friday. They're supposed to be added in update 1.8.2, which is planned for release in June.

Hopefully, Ubisoft takes everything they learned during the two years after The Division's launch and applies it to the sequel.
