Running Back Frank Gore Agrees to Deal With Dolphins

Running Back Frank Gore Agrees to Deal With Dolphins

Former Colts running back Frank Gore is having a homecoming of sorts as the 34-year old agreed on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

Gore played four seasons at the University of Miami where he was part of their historic 2001 National Championship team as he backed up Clinton Portis at the time.

As Schefter noted, Gore had a glittering college career with Miami, so he's got fond memories of the South Beach area.

Gore hasn't missed a game since 2010 when he suffered a season-ending hip injury late in the year. It's a timeshare that figures to favor Drake, but with enough touches, Gore could still grind out a degree of fantasy utility in 2018. Gore was productive the last three seasons with the Colts despite running behind a below 25th ranked offensive line according to Pro Football Focus.

And while people have been writing his career obituary for years, Gore has averaged over 1,000 yards per year since turning 30 in 2013. He ranks fifth all-time in rushing with 14,026 yards and is just 75 yards shy of the number four spot now owned by Curtis Martin. In Week Two against the Seattle Seahawks, Gore ran for two 75-plus yard touchdowns in the same game.

Gore never averaged 4.0 yards per carry or better in Indy after hitting that mark in each of his 10 seasons with the Niners. That was Gore's lowest yards per carry of his career. He participated in 14 regular-season contests during his rookie season, registering 608 yards while reaching the end zone three times.

Over his career, Gore has rushed for more than 14,000 yards with 77 touchdowns on the ground and 17 touchdowns through the air. He also had 32 catches for 239 yards and a score, compared to Gore, who had 29 catches for 245 yards and one touchdown a year ago.
