The Lagos state government a few days ago announced a 2-day visit of the President and declared a public holiday to ameliorate the hardship that was bound to follow due to the massive constructions going on around the state and the fact that it had cordoned off certain areas for security reasons.

The commissioner expressed deep regret for any inconveniences, saying the listed roads to be closed to traffic would be reopened immediately after the president's motorcade passes.

Mr Edgal, who addressed the briefing alongside heads of security and emergency agencies in the state, said, "To ensure smooth, security-free visit of the President, we would need to do some diversions".

"Now, the state government has given out the contract to a firm and they are now smoothening up the place. I left my house 4 a.m., but trust Nigerians, they will always find a way around it", she said.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau, stated that Lake Rice would be sold in all designated centres from Thursday (today).

"Arrant nonsense! How does this even make sense to our government? The whole city is shut down for the entire day".
