Microsoft patches Internet Explorer zero-day 'Double Kill'

Microsoft has expanded Search previews as of build 17666 to support apps, documents and more. An exploit known as Double Kill was reported by researchers at Chinese cybersecurity vendor Qihoo 360 in April; the Qihoo 360 Core Security research team reported an advanced persistent threat (APT) campaign was actively exploiting the Internet Explorer zero-day.

In a web-based attack, specially designed web pages could exploit the same vulnerability when using Internet Explorer.

The second bug under active exploit is an elevation of privilege vulnerability (CVE-2018-8120) impacting a Windows Win32k component.

In total, Microsoft's May Patch Tuesday roundup included 68 security patches, with 21 listed as critical, 45 rated important and two listed low in severity. "There are also quite a few Office-related patches for May, with the most important being those for Outlook and SharePoint". Our first taste of Fluent Design arrived alongside the Fall Creators Update last October, but that was just the beginning of what will be a long process.

The new feature can be enabled from the Settings System Clipboard. According to Microsoft, there is a flaw in the way that the VBScript engine that allows for remote code execution. Embedding AcitveX controls that were marked "safe for initialization" inside of a Microsoft Office document also allowed for unsafe code to be executed since the IE rendering engine is used. The code exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft's handling of NTFS filesystem images and was discovered by. The Cloud Clipboard is finally ready for beta testing and Microsoft today in a blog post announced this new feature for Windows 10. "[The bug] is an information disclosure vulnerability in the Windows Kernel that could allow an attacker to gain additional information to further compromise the system", the software giant said.

Microsoft has been testing a new feature called Cloud Clipboard for Windows 10 and it was originally expected to launch in Redstone 4, but eventually held back for next version of the operating system. If the current user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could take control of an affected system.
